Barn Swallows and House Sparrows
In one fell swoop, literally, the barn swallows came back last week. It must be Spring! Daughter#3's tulips are coming up! Surprise! The deer didn't get them after all - and no, I didn't shoot any deer.
House sparrows are in the same category as raisins! They are evil and must be destroyed! Seriously. They are invasive, after all. Therefore I think I should be able to poison them. Can't think of a way though to do it without harming the bluebirds (looking dashing in their first molt) or the other birds I'd like to keep around (goldfinches, cliff swallows, kingbirds, hummingbirds etc etc). Since Son#1 has an airsoft gun, and Daughter #1 smokes outside a lot (and doesn't do much else), I thought I could employ her to shoot the sparrows. Even if she misses, she might be able to scare them away. I'm not sure that the neighbors would be accomodating of that plan.
Thought for the day: Why do little boys pee on toilet seats? Rhetorical. Please, don't come up with answers, or you just might have too much brain time!
